These seasonal flowers are all grown outdoors and flowering times are therefore heavily influenced by prevailing weather conditions, temperature and rainfall.

The first blooms of the early narcissus crops usually appear in the early autumn, encouraged into flowering by the warming effect of laying polythene sheeting over the ground in early july in order to speed up the life cycle of the bulbs, however this is only effective under average rainfall conditions. The season usually begins with the "forced varieties" Paper Whites,Soleil d'or, also a variety similar to the Sol, named Innisidgen.
